Position Overview

The Delivery Lead at Mutually Human plays a crucial role in providing high-quality customer service and project management. This position involves being the main point of contact for clients during active projects, ensuring clear communication of expectations to both clients and internal teams. The Delivery Lead is accountable for tracking project progress, budget, and timing, as well as facilitating the iterative design and development process. Key responsibilities include building agendas for client status meetings, maintaining a backlog of user stories with detailed acceptance criteria, and monitoring team performance and client satisfaction. This role requires strong project management skills to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standard of quality.

Key Responsibilities

Provide high quality customer service and project management

At Mutually Human, our promise to our clients is “Clear expectations. No surprises.” The Delivery Lead is an essential part of that promise. Activities to support this goal include:

  • You will be the main point of contact for the client during an active project.
  • You will be expected to provide clear expectations to the client and internal team. The Delivery Lead will be accountable to track progress and completion of deliverables to ensure the team is meeting all set expectations.
  • Each week you will work with the team to build the agenda for weekly client status meetings and ensure all team members are prepared accordingly.

Ensure projects are delivered within budget and timing expectations

At Mutually Human, we pride ourselves on completing projects on time and on budget. In order to do this, the Delivery Lead is responsible for tracking progress and surfacing any issues to the Product Strategist and Account Manager. Activities to support this goal include:

  • Continuously track and report on project progress (completed, in progress, and unstarted work), budget (total budget, budget consumed, budget remaining), timing (expected delivery date of phase as well as individual features),
  • Monitor and report on team performance, collaboration, happiness and surface any issues to the department lead
  • Monitor and report on client feedback/satisfaction and surface any issues to the department lead

Facilitate the iterative design and development process

The Delivery lead is responsible to ensure the project has a well maintained backlog of user stories, with detailed acceptance criteria. You will work with the Product Strategist, internal team, and clients in order to gather, discuss, and define detailed requirements of features. Activities to support this goal include:

  • Facilitate the iterative design and development process (agile) and continue to look for opportunities to improve efficiency based on individual project needs.
  • Write initial drafts of user stories and review and refine based on feedback from Product and Technical Strategists.
  • Meet with the development team to get estimates for each feature.
  • Coordinate design reviews with the internal team.
  • Sheppard stories through the process, alerting individuals when items are ready for their attention.
  • Monitor progress of individual features against the estimated time allocated for a feature. Check in with designers and developers if work is going longer than expected and surface issues to the Product Strategist.
  • Schedule and facilitate weekly meetings such as sprint planning, retros, client meetings, and stand ups.

Planning & Design Phase

In addition to leading ongoing projects, the Delivery Lead will support the strategy team during the planning & design phase including activities such as:

  • Scheduling meetings, coordinating with the team to develop an agenda, and setting clear expectations for the client and internal team.
  • Attending workshops and capturing notes.
  • Working with Product Strategist to translate notes into story maps, presentations, and other communications for the client and internal team.

Tracking progress on deliverables (product plan, wireframes, proposals, etc.) and ensure the delivery team is meeting all the expectations.

Qualifications

Desired education and experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university.
  • 3+ years working with a team building custom software, preferably in a role such as “Project Manager” “Delivery Lead” “Scrum Master” “Product Owner” or “Product Manager”

Other Information

  • While this role will be allowed to work remotely, the ideal candidate will be local to the headquarters in Grand Rapids, MI and able to come into the office as needed.
